Boost the benefits of your water

In case you're late to the party, drinking more water is beneficial to your health in many ways. I'm all about efficiency so I LOVE to give my water a boost so it is even more nourishing. Bonus, it's sooooo so easy! EASY is also something I'm into.

To avoid the suspense, the easy boost to my water is balancing the pH. This will disappoint my dad (who's a chemist) but I'll avoid most of the sciencey stuff and cut right to it.
pH is how acidic or alkaline your water is on a scale of 0-14. You probably have heard of hard (alkaline) or soft (acidic) water which are often used to describe it.

We want to be BALANCED, so shoot for 7, or higher because.....

...American's are not known for their overly healthy diets so our bodies tend to be more on the acidic side. No-so-good things happen in acidic environments. You can quickly test yourself at home using one of these strips from Amazon. You can probably assume you're on the acidic end unless more than 60% of your diet consists of raw organic produce (mostly low sugar vegetables), you already only consume pH balanced water, and you don't eat out.

How:
On to the good stuff. To get that pH balanced water EASILY do one of 2 things. Either get some fresh organic lemons or doTERRA Lemon Essential Oil and add it to your water.
Get a glass pitcher, fill it with filtered water. slice up a lemon and leave it in there overnight. Drink the entire pitcher the next day, and repeat.
If you've ever been told to avoid lemon juice for teeth reasons or acid reflux, go the route of the doTERRA Lemon Essential Oil. Tons of health benefits without the juice. Also, reach out to me so we can chat more about your reflux!

BE SURE to only use citrus essential oils in glass, stainless steel, or ceramic containers! Citrus essential oils have detoxing properties which are amazing to support your body's detoxification process. Unfortunately we live in a world filled with toxins and if you put those oils in a plastic cup, it can leach out the toxic stuff from the plastic into your water and we definitely don't want that.

Try to avoid plastic containers of any kind actually! That will be the topic of another post though :)
