Treat Yourself

Give yourself something that keeps on giving! Giving you better health that is! And it'll indirectly increase your steps-per-day.

I LOVE the joy in my kids eyes when I sneak a new dress into their closet or the relief on their faces when they see I cleaned the toy room and I won't be asking them to do it today. By default, I think of others when it comes to purchasing items 9 times out of 10. 
I also tend to operate on the frugal side of the dollar, aka I'm cheap. If it has a clearance sticker on it, it's for me! So when my kids earn a reward, it's either an experience (out for ice cream, movies, friends house, etc) or the dollar store! When it comes to myself, I have found myself not purchasing physical items because I don't need them or maybe I have something already that will make do instead of something new. 

BUT!! I broke that recently and bought myself a new WATER BOTTLE. Yeah, I know, not as exciting as you might have thought but let me tell you!!! It is exactly what I needed. You might be wondering what this has to do with increasing your steps-per-day... keep reading. 

I was in a 'water slump'. I LOVE the reverse osmosis water system I have in my house, highly recommend! but I was slacking...
I was waking up in the morning with headaches, feeling puffy and my skin was drier than was normal for upstate NY.

I tried all my usual tricks:
  • tons of ice
  • using a mason jar
  • fun straw
  • even my usual trick of adding doTERRA essential oils to my glass of water
Nothing was getting me up to my goal of 100 ounces/day. Then... it happened. A sale [of course] and a coupon for Under Armor. The perfect storm. 

It was sort of an early back-to-school supply for myself. 
-How ever you need to justify the purchase to yourself, just do it-

Your body needs more water! Yes you. Every one of you, us, me, everyone. Water helps your body:
  • Flush out toxins
  • Improves your mood
  • Improves digestion
  • Improves mood
  • Reveals a healthier skin complexion
Aaaand makes you visit the bathroom more often, therefore INCREASING YOUR STEPS-PER-DAY😁 

It sounds simple, and it really is: water is soooo important to your physical and mental wellbeing. Everything starts to get better with a deep breath and a glass of water. 

If you find yourself getting frustrated with those increased steps-per-day try to reframe how you're thinking about it. Your body is literally telling you it needs to release toxins so don't ignore it! Everytime you go, (leave the BR👌 👃 ) take a deep breath and know that you're that much healthier now that your body has the water it needs to function the way it needs to.
