Holiday Drink Guide

I'm generally a water and coffee kind of gal, but the holidays make me feel like I need to get all fancy!

How do you get your holiday drink on? Here are some things that I do. My goal is to enjoy the festivities while not throwing wellness out the window. If I can make things 1% healthier and still enjoyable I’ll put it in the ‘win’ column!
  • Mason Jars! Changing up the cup you use can make all the difference. Instead of recycling sauce jars, I cleaned them out and started reusing them as cups! I'm never buying glasses again fyi. We all have those days when we don't drink enough water, change up your cup, add some citrus essential oil, sliced fruit, whatever it takes for you to stay hydrated! because....
  • Spike your spiced cider! Once you've hydrated... get fancy. Spike your cider with your favorite spice rum then add a drop of Wild Orange Essential Oil and Lemon Essential Oil. (doTERRA of course, so you know they are safe for consumption) The essential oils brighten it up!
    •  When adding essential oils to drinks, be sure to use glass, stainless steel, or ceramic cups. Essential oils, especially citrus oils, are excellent for supporting your body's detoxing process. The oils also will detox the chemicals out of a plastic cup and get the yucky stuff into your water. We don’t want that, so avoid plastic.
Fancy up your tea! On those chilly weeknights I love holding a warm cup of tea. There are lots of options for tea additions if you're under the weather.
  • A lesser used oil in my tea is Spearmint. It's great for digestion and for fresh breath.
  • Dip a toothpick into Clove or Cinnamon essential oil and put it into your tea for some extra spice and germ fighting properties 🥊.
  • Cassia essential oil is described as ‘sweet cinnamon’. Use it just as you would Cinnamon.
  • Lemon peel or Lemon essential oil are also great in tea.

Whatever you fancy, just be sure to stay hydrated and do what you can to reduce added sugars. If you're under the weather, definitely cut out added sugars so your body can use all its resources to tackle those germs.
  • Use half cider, half water to cut out sugar
  • Use essential oils in seltzer instead of soda
  • Opt for a cup of tea instead of hot cocoa
Leave me a comment with your favorite holiday beverage! I’d love to get some new ideas and even see how we can make it a little more nourishing while still holding onto all the holiday warm-fuzzy feelings!!
Merry Christmas from Point Nourish!!
