Biofeedback

Now, I've been tired for years. But I have 3 kids under 7, a full time job, part time job, and all the things. (I'm sure plenty of you can relate, even if you don't have young kids, you fill your time with things!) There are plenty of periods of time when I feel good, but lately I've been just exhausted and taking too long to get out of the rut. I came up with lots of excuses like I wasn't taking my vitamins consistently, or my sleep schedule was off, or my husband snored too loudly all night, etc. I knew deep down that there was probably something else going on, but part of me didn't want to know/didn't feel like I had time to know.
Which is counterintuitive, because I really don't have time to NOT know what's wrong. I need to be on my A-game to feel my best and get the most out of each day.
A good friend had given me a brochure for a biofeedback session she had done almost a year ago and I kept thinking, this might be the time to check this out. So, on a recent rainy Saturday my mom and I made appointments and went!
During biofeedback, you're connected to electrical pads, in my case it was a strap around my head that help you get information about your body through an electrical current. You don't feel anything! Nothing zappy or anything like that.
During this type of biofeedback, an electroencephalograph (EEG) uses scalp pads to monitor your brain waves. There are certain brain waves that show different things. And holy moly, did it show things!!
Some of the things that were very obvious from the scan were my pH balance was NOT balanced, the amount of vitamins and minerals present were way too low, my hormones were not in normal range, basically everything was out of wack and I was running on fumes.

SOooo many of us feel like this way too often. I've honestly felt run down since I had my last kid and I just chalked it all up to being a busy working mom. Since I don't plan on giving up being a mom, work, or anything else that I do, I need to fix it.

This particular scan was able to link some of my needs to specific essential oils and a handful of supplements or compounds that I can get through supplements. Other changes need to come through my diet. One particular thing that kept coming up was pH balance and Lemon essential oil! Which is silly because there was a point when I always had lemon oil in my water. I think I used up the bottle that I keep in my cup cabinet and never replaced it. So now I have a brand new bottle and a big bag of organic lemons in my fridge.
It is nuts how much better I felt after 2 days of just doing that!
I cut out dairy from my diet many years ago and was told that I would probably develop an intolerance to gluten but I had my head in the sand on this one. I'm really good at dairy alternatives so gluten ones will be a new challenge! I've already made gluten free protein muffins and bagels and I am excited to try even more alternatives!!

So why am I so excited to know what's wrong with me?? Because now I have a road map to fix it! And if we're being honest, a lot of these changes are simple and things I sort of already knew I needed to do. (get more sleep, avoid dairy, gluten, wheat, add lemon to my water...)

I'm even more excited to take some of you on the ride!! I'm finally launching my wellness coaching group! This will be a 90 day road map to a better you!
